Adjusting to New Dentures: Tips for the First Few Weeks

New dentures can feel a little unusual at first, and that’s completely normal. Most people adjust within a few weeks. A few simple habits make the transition much smoother.

Eating

Start with soft foods and small bites, then gradually add variety as you gain confidence. Chew evenly on both sides to keep the denture stable.

Speaking

Practise speaking out loud. Reading a book aloud for a few minutes a day helps your mouth adapt quickly to the new shape.

Comfort

  • Wear them as advised so your mouth gets used to them.
  • Come see us for adjustments if you notice any sore spots. Never suffer through discomfort.
  • Give yourself grace. The first couple of weeks are the hardest, and it gets easier fast.

Sore spot or rubbing? Don’t push through it. A quick adjustment fixes most issues. Call 778-278-4833.
